Also, just like Tessa can split up into multiple insects, detaching his Shadow might just be a thing Nic can do.....there is nothing I recall that said it's his Fallen, acting on it's own, rather than just his shadow.

Have we actually seen it detach rather than just extend ?

Not 100% sure, to be honest.

Wasn't it swimming in the aquarium while Nic was talking to Harry?

Wasn't that a dolphin, or maybe shark?

I think there are rules governing what the Denarians are permitted (by Heaven) to do. You are only allowed so many tricks and Anduriel had to give up his body morphing slot in order to get the Animate Shadow power.

Consider the one thing none of them are allowed: they cannot edit the host's perception so that he never hears a Knight's demand for him to give up his coin. He might accept (Cassius) or reject (Rassmussen) it, but the Fallen can't take the choice away from him.

I wonder what Lasciel's alternate form would have been if she had gotten control of Harry? "Hey, I've been turned into a woman. Damn I'm hot!"

I think the coins give them more leeway.  Remember that some of  the Denarians have names while others are referred to as their Fallen.  It was explained by Nic that some of them retain a measure of control, while others are completely taken over.  Though I think the holder has to in an extent relinquish control to the Fallen in the first place.

1) Both Jim Butcher and Harry Dresden are Spider-Man fans.
2) Lasciel is the Webweaver.

So, I'd guess something like:

It's not too late, Harry! Go get that coin and live the dream!

I always imagined looking like his Ego (aka Primal Harry).  Dressed in expensive black clothes with top of the line everything. I doubt that Lash would physically chnage Harry because Harry is a wizard and is more inclined to be wizardly not brutish. But I bet you he'd have super scary powers that make the Merlin look like a joke.

I think it was following the shark that Nic was watching when Harry walked in. Harry noted that the sharks shadow was actually that of a man.
