Not prejudging, just stating a person preference, plus the belief if it is done well and moves the reader or the viewer, why go back and reinvent it?

Why assume it would be "reinventing" rather than something Jim planned all along, then ?

so what happens if Lash returns to his head and he gets Soulfire and Hellfire at the same time and tries to use them both simultaneously?

I would if it would be like crossing the streams of you proton pack; p[possibly very bad or exponentially more powerful if you don't accidentally implode the universe.

How about keeping a beautiful ending just that? Beautiful and not try for a sequel which usually isn't as good.. But you can call it reinventing if you want.

I'm not, I'm calling it a beautiful middle.

Really Lasciel has come up with exactly the best way to finally corrupt Harry...

He respects sacrifice - this could really be a very diabolical way back in.

No really, because if she is back, then she really never sacrificed herself did she?  It was a trick, and Harry won't respect that.

Why does he have to realise it was a trick for it to actually have been a trick ?

Heh. Ever since I heard that the name of one of the last books in the series would be 'Hell's Bells', I had wondered if it would involve Lasciel, Tessa and Dierdre, who could well be referred to as Hell's Belles.

Sorry, if this has been mentioned but these posts are so long but not to pee in anyone's koolaid, but I had an Occum'a Razor moment. Instead of the headaches being due to Lash coming back couldn't it just be a side effect of Mab tampering with Dresden's mind in Small favor?

It isn't as cool or devious as other ideas, but it would be the most plausible reason for persistant migranes.

Thanks

It's plausible only if you assume Mab either gains something from it or is clumsy, neither of which I can see.

No I meant she played with his mind so he would forget fire magic. It was repaired by Michael but couldn't the migranes be due to that? The way the books seem to read to me it would have had to been an amazing job to remove all tampering that without turning Dresden into a drooling vegetable. A headache or three would be a minor consequence.

Michael got rid of it by praying; so are we then assuming that the White God's miraculous intervention was clumsy ?

No only that it might leave some lingering traces. I prefer the Lash theory myself but had to point out another possibility. Especially since the headaches just started in TC and he was mind sccrewed in  the previous book. If it was Lash regenerating the headaches probably would have started sooner or maybe they occurred off screen and we didn't know. Just playing devil's advocate  since JB seems to try to keep things as simple and logical as possible. heck, the whole headache thing could be a giant red herring (I hope not).
