Jessica Alba as the Lily, the summer lady
Mary McCormack to play Murphy
Helena Bonham Carter as Mab
for some weird reason, my subconcious wants the band of Linkin Park as the Alphas
Hugh Laurie WOULD make a good Morgan (never thought of that)
John Leguizamo as Ramirez
Monica Belucci as Bianca

These are the basis I have in my mind, but not exact as they don't necessarily have the same build, hair color, age, etc:

Harry: James Roday, best known as Shawn Spencer from Psych
Murphy: Rachel Leigh Cook
Michael: Chris Jericho
Thomas: James Marsters
Bob: Eddie Izzard
Molly: Christina Hendricks, best known as Saffron from Firefly and Joan from Mad Men
Morgan: Clint Eastwood
Ivy: Kirsten Dunst from Interview with the Vampire
Marcone: Jeffrey Donovan, best known as Michael Weston in Burn Notice

Whenever I read Bob's dialogue, I always hear Danny deVito in my head.  And I second the recommendation for a young Jeff Goldblum as Harry; Jared Padalecki fits the description in the books and he's the right age, but he seems to lack the requisite snarky edge.  I'd be inclined to cast Jensen Ackles over him, even though he looks nothing at all like the character.

Hmm.  This is interesting, as I have *extremely* clear pictures of how the characters look in my head, and most of them don't super closely resemble any well known actors.  I'll have to think about this a while.

I will say this, however.  The picture I get of Lara Raith is a dead ringer for Vibeke Stene, former lead singer of the metal band Tristania (sans some of the over-the-top goth).

Not exactly someone of the acting profession, however.  Sans the goth clothing this is a pretty good approximation of my own mental picture of Lara Raith.

Here's my list

Harry: Actually the hardest one.  But I'm going with Hugh Laurie
Thomas: Hugh Jackman without the wolf hair or claws
Murphy: Charlize Theron
Marcone: Bruce Greenwood
Michael: Mel Gibson
Charity: Winona Rider
Molly: Alicia Witt
Sanya: Laurence Fishburne
Mac: Glenn Morshower
Billy the Werewolf: Chris Pine
Georgia the Werewolf: Jennifer Garner
Ebenezar McCoy: Possibly Gene Hackman.  This is a tough one
Queen Mab: Cate Blanchett done up to be scary as hell
Lily: Liv Tyler
Lara Raith: Anne Hathaway
Merlin: William Devane
Listens To Wind: We really need Chief Dan George for this one, but he's not with us anymore.

This is the person Jim himself thinks fits the role best visually:

http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3885144576/nm0219206

He's not anywhere near as tall as Harry, but he LOOKS gangling and awfully tall - plus, that would allow you to choose the rest of the cast among people shorter than their characters.

When did Jim say this? I'm not questioning, I'm just thrilled at the idea (so much so that I just registered for the forum!)

I'm a big Angel/Buffy fan and though I never thought of it before, Alexis Denisof would be amazing as Harry! He's certainly got the acting chops, and anyone who has seen seasons 3-5 of Angel should know that he can go to the dark places required for some of Harry's worst moments. Also, though I don't think he's tall at all, TJ Thyne from Bones has a very Dresden-like delivery. Far out note: Bradley Cooper (recently of The Hangover) might be a good choice for Harry or Thomas (with a dye job).

While we're in the Angel wheelhouse, I've kinda always pictured Murphy as Kate (Elisabeth Rohm, also from Law & Order). They just always seemed very similar to me.

I also want to see Christian Kane playing Kincaid, that'd be awesome.

I'm tainted by the TV show.

Bob has no face, but his voice is that of Terrance Mann.
Harry is Paul Blackthorne.
Same here. I'll add that I usually 'hear' and envision Sanya as a taller, Russian accented version of the guy who played Morgan's TV show counterpart. TV show basically nailed my mental image of Bianca, just add fire (literally Cheesy). Morgan I tend to picture as a cross between Sean Connery and Christopher Lee, more so the latter during Turn Coat.

Other than that, I tend to picture everything animated in the art styles of the comics and book covers. Which means assigning voice actors to people instead (most of the time). Thomas usually sounds like Steve Staley.  Charity is almost always Mary Elizabeth Glynn and Molly's usually Kelly Sheridan. For some reason, I've taken to associating Murphy with Maryke Hendrikse, which would be amusing as hell if you've ever seen Black Lagoon. Cheesy I've also started associating her with Megan Hollingshead. The Senior Council members are harder to pin down -- they're all so archetypal that assigning any one person to them somehow detracts from the image.

Bears mention that I also tend to see Carlos looking something like the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle and Mark Grayson from Invincible -- and it's a pain in the butt to find good pictures of either of them out of costume. Molly's just stuck with having blue or pink hair in every visual I have of her. And for some reason I see the Sidhe characters 'shaped' resembling Bruce Timm's art style, even when they're around others. Makes 'em creepier for one thing.

I also tend to hear Cowl's voice as if he's speaking electronically through an echo chamber. Oddly, he and Corpsetaker share a voice actor for me: Wally Wingert, who sounds much more badass than he looks. Cheesy And yes, that includes Corpsetaker in Luccio's current body. I blame his role in Blood+.

Honestly, I can't recall with certainty, but I believe he said it at PhauxCon in Philadelphia, October 2007. I was originally thinking he posted it somewhere here on the forums, but searching hasn't uncovered anything.
