More important is whether or not Tavi believes that any given betrayer was honestly trying to work for a better Alera. Intentions make all the difference sometimes.

One of my favorite quotes ever (though I'm not sure where it came from, originally) is "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions."

Something I didn't notice from Ch. 3

The senator that is trying to screw Tavi is the guy Bernard decked at the end of Princeps Fury.

This may have been obvious to the rest of you, but I got it confused with the senator he threatened in CF (least I think it was CF.)

Or were they the same guy?

The senator that Bernard threatened in Cursor's Fury is the one that was killed in Captains' Fury, Guntos Arnos.  Yes the guy Bernard decked in Princeps is the one attempting to dispute the marriage. Nice guy huh?

Accually revealing himself to Magnus would just be the begining of clearing up the plot point. After that Magnus would have to tell Tavi, then tavi would have to decide to spare him and let him become one of Tavi's Trusted Advisors

i think if he revealed himself to Magnus, we wouldn't be cleaning up one plot point, but rather starting a whole new one.

I get the feeling the whole exchange where Fidellius and Magnus were looking at each other and he realized Fidellius could have let him die but chose not to is gonna help sway Magnus into believing Fidellius. But after that chapter I can't see Fidellius not confessing soon.

It depends.  Is Carna better off losing Fidelias in favor of getting Marcus full-time?  Tell Octavian, then have Tavi tell him, "You're better off staying Marcus."
