I'm not watching videos at work, but found the plot on imdb
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0963966/
Not remembering when the original was written, but wiki says 1797
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sorcerer's_Apprentice
So what's in the trailer to make you suspect rip-off?

Sebastian just watch the trailer. The original may have been written in he 1700s but if you look at charcter design, setting etc. it is very clearly a dresden knock off. And remember Cage was a producer on the Dresden TV series.

I can see what your saying when you simply consider Cage's character in the trailer. He dresses like Dresden, the Duster and the number of rings on his hands. In fact Cage's character in this movie looks more like Dresden than Paul Blackthrone did in the Sci Fi Dresden Files series.

I understand (and even share) some of the ire about the presentation of Nic's character in that movie, but I don't think it's a good move for the podcast to stir the pot and ask Jim to comment on it. The publishing and creative world is
small
, folks. Everybody knows everybody. Getting out there and speaking ill does not benefit our guy.

Is troo.
Did Jim and Nic ever have any interaction during the TV show production?
One more question: what is UP with those GIANT lapels?

Not that I'm aware of. Production company does not equal the guy himself.

Yup, which is why I asked - it would've been silly to assume it did.
