It's 12:14 AM where I'm at. My parents are asleep. I saw Priscellie's twitter update, opened my browser to Jim's news, and proceeded to hyperventilate and censor the volume of my ridiculously excited screaming. I succeeded for the most part I AM SO PSYCHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!! Also, the Side Jobs wallpaper is officially my desktop. It took a little maneuvering because my laptop screen is weird as hell, but I got it on there. *pants* These books need to come out NOW.

Exactly what I was thinking. Too bad there isn't a pentacle on the tombstone too.

I too was happy about this. Exactly what I was thinking. Too bad there isn't a pentacle on the tombstone too.
Perhaps it's been 'blasted' off? There's a big chunk that appears to be missing from the area above his name. At least it looks that way on my screen.

OOOOooooOOOOohhh *pushes face to screen* And just as I was searching for a new wallpaper. Both of those covers are awesome. Gimmie. Missing the inlaid gold pentacle, and he still has the hat. Well, its kind of hard to look all mysterious and magical when people can see your forehead... And hey, looks like he got his staff back! Right on. C'mon March!

(1) OMG, Harry looks HOT in the Side Jobs cover. Like, classic jawline, sexy stubble, that understated intensity in his demeanor... wow. (2) McGrath rocks... but...
(3) IS WHOMEVER IS PLANNING THE BOOK COVERS PSYCHOLOGICALLY CAPABLE OF ANYTHING but drawing Harry in profile from various angles against urban backdrops??? Yeah, I get it. It's relatively quick to produce--you just focus on the details of the main character in the foreground, and then you can just loosely sketch out the rest. But after 12 books, it's getting a little redundant. I didn't exactly like the old covers either because they NEVER showed any characters, but at least they switched it up a little. These... cringes.
Given the influence of graphic novels in the writing in these books, I would have hoped some of the artistic elements of comics might have overflowed into the cover art. Like, maybe some funky perspective shots, rather than the head-on thing we see 24/7. And some switching up of the atmosphere. Mysterious and brooding. Yeah, touches on the whole noir novel thing, works well with the matte covers, good for marketing. But like, can we see some of those adrenalene pumping battles sketched out? I'd love to see Turn Coat's cover reillustrated with Harry towing Molly along, or maybe something going awry in the sub-basement. It wouldn't be any more of a spoiler than the first chapters anyways, and who knows--teaser illustrations might be just as effective as say, yet another pic of Harry standing.
