You said it! I have a husband and a son who don't have the chocolate gene. Luckily my other son and I make up for it by having 70% dark chocolate genes.
I'm pretty sure it's a recessive gene passed down mostly through females. Both my parents' mothers have(had) it, and my parents aren't huge chocolate nuts(although my Mom's got a real thing for dark chocolate these days). I on the other hand, am a big fan of the chocolatey goodness, in many varieties.

Mickey, I believe that real men like dark chocolate.
After all the Aztec and Mayan cultures had chocolate holding important spiritual positions in their religions, and daily lives.
At one point in the late Renaissance the Pope tried to make the use of chocolate a venial sin, but everyone ignored this dictum, and he swept it under the rug as a non-incident. (Oh, did you think I said chocolate is a sin? No, no, no, I said pass me this chocolate again... Yes, that is what I said.)

As a real(enough) man, I would concur with this sentiment!

And how can we go wrong emulating practioners of slavery, cannibalism, and human sacrifice?

Slavery -- Thomas Jefferson
Cannibalism -- Ever read Heart of the Sea?
Human Sacrifice -- name your war.
But with Chocolate there is no wrong!

The difference is Jefferson knew slavery was immoral and worked to try to abolish it. The crew of the Essex resorted to cannibalism to survive--not as a regular diet. There's a huge difference between killing somebody in a war and flopping them on an altar and cutting out their heart. And white chocolate is better than dark chocolate! <Braces for firestorm of dissent>

And white chocolate is better than dark chocolate! <Braces for firestorm of dissent> Dark chocolate is better than white when it comes to peanut butter cups, IMO... Really, though, I love all chocolate equally, dependant on mood. 70% cocoa dark is yummy - I developed a fondness for Green & Black's while in England for a semester; their "milk" chocolate is 34% cocoa, making it taste like a Hershey's Special Dark. Oh, and Cadbury's is infinitely superior to Hershey's! *hides*

Chocolate...the darker the better. Dove trumps Cadbury any day *might be the thought of **remains undescribable due to minors frequenting the board** oozing substance in their "eggs" but I'm sticking to my guns on this one*

While I love dark chocolate, I like white chocolate as well...
Bob: Yeah, Jefferson knew it was wrong, but he allowed the economic convenience of it to prevent him from freeing his own slaves! As for the rest, yeah, you're right. I wouldn't want to be around those crazy Aztecs, or Maya. Besides which they didn't even put sugar in their chocolate!
Glad you got the Heart of the Sea reference. I love this board. So many well read smart folks!
