The Wire mentioning it in an article is not the same thing as Sci Fi owning up and making a press release. They didn't "wait" til Blackthorne to make an announcement, a reporter on the Wire made a comment about a poorly kept secret. They still haven't done anything themselves.

But the wire said that Scifi confirmed there will not be a season two. The wire is through the Scifi channel. It seems very plausable that telling them first is their official announcement. It was small and subtle but it's there and putting it at the tail end of an article about Paul getting new work without any other explaination, I think that's wrong. It implies that it's his fault.

Robert, Thanks for coming clean with us even when sci fi didn't. I'm sorry you got treated so badly and I'm sorry sci fi channel sucks. Any chance of a couple direct to DVD movies like Stargate is doing?

I agree and think maybe a continuation or spin off would be a good idea.

From TV Guide's Matt Roush's Dispatch Blog: Paul Blackthorne in The Dresden Files by Steve Wilkie/Sci Fi Channel PhotoAfter months of fielding questions from fans desperate to know if Sci Fi was ever going to make a decision on the fate of its clever private-eye/fantasy hybrid The Dresden Files, it's official: The show isn't returning for a second season.
A shame, but hardly a surprise, given the reticence to discuss the matter every time I brought it up to Sci Fi or NBC Universal Cable execs during the recent TCA press tour. In their world, it's all about "running the numbers" (in other words: looking at the ratings and budgets, etc.) and to them, Dresden just didn't seem to measure up.
This confirmation came my way the same morning that there are reports in the trades that Paul Blackthorne, Dresden's very appealing star, has joined the cast of ABC's Big Shots in a recurring role as what's being described as the show's "fifth CEO... a sophisticated, iconic tycoon that the [other] four (Dylan McDermott, Michael Vartan, Christopher Titus, Joshua Malina) aspire to be."
At least he's landed on his feet. Harry Dresden would be proud. http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Roush-Dispatch/Dresden-Sci-Fis/800019821?rssDate=12345678 ETA: A big "Thank You" to you, Robert, for letting us know and for keeping in touch with the fans. It's a shame because I really think that it would have taken off 'big time' in a second season. (I now have no reason to watch the SciFi channel.)

A similar article was on Scifi wire but that article talked about Paul's new show first and then ended it by saying Dresden files is cancelled, which to me, makes it look like someone tried to make it look like the reason they didn't continue was Paul's fault and I know it's not. I'm sending them an angry letter about the implication.

Well I'm sad but not really surprised Robert Wolfe~ {and cast and crew} Thank you for all your hard work. I really enjoyed it. You made me happy for a little while At least we get the DVDs and a sort of a ending As far as Sci Fi. It gets harder and harder to trust them on anything. I came to DF from the books. I'm not sure I'd trust anything Sci fi made to watch if I didn't have a strong reasons to watch such as being made by one of my fav writing teams or the maybe half dozen actors I'd follow anywhere. It's not even the cancelation as such. These things happen, it's there total disregard for fans.

Life goes on, the books will continue. However any news on where you, Hans, & David will be hanging a new shingle? Anything interesting coming your way? Please make sure and check in with us so we can see more of your work no matter what the genre or where it might air....
Best wishes to all of you and again thank you for your creative ability to bring Dresden to TV. We will all look forward to more of your work.
Disappointed in the heartland.

Thanks very kindly for hanging out with us and taking care of us with all of the lovely insights and info that you've shared. Most especially, thank you and all of the cast and crew for the wonderful Dresden episodes! I've got my DVDs pre-ordered and if you folks decide that you'd like to do one-off movies like the SG-1 folks, I will gladly buy every DVD movie that you put out there. And if you're able to get a decent network to take the show, know that all of us will definitely be there watching! Now that I've got satellite instead of cable, they can even track it (stupid Nielsen nonsense). *sigh*
That said, I hope that you continue to hang around on the boards when you have time. You're a cool guy and a lot of fun on the board!
Please do relay all of the fans' love and gratitude to everyone who worked on the show for us. It was a wild, great ride while it lasted!
