so Alera is basically the only human empire corect? no allies except for the recent marat relations. so aleras enemies include the Marat, Canim, Icemen, dammit the bug things sorry, and others. so what other lands and peoples are out there? if theres a map in the book im very sorry.

Two which are interconected like North and South America and the one where the Canim live. As far as we know it there are only two nations Alera and kingdom/empire/whatever of the Canim, while the Marat, and probably the Icemen too, are tribal people. Apart from those and that lone Vordqueen there is no one else.
All Alerans are united within one nation, however there might be other countries wherever the Alerans originate from as they don't appear to be native in their present home. Whether those will ever play any role in the story I don't know.
