I am pretty sure I want the next show -- once I get past this monstrous holiday season -- will be about the Dresden Files comic book.  If possible, I'll try to get someone from Dabel Bros on the line for an interview.

Anyone have things they want to hear about in such a show, or questions you want me to ask the Dabels?  Drop your questions and ideas in here, or phone 'em over to 301-6377-HAT & leave a voicemail.

Sounds like a great idea!  You could probably mine the "Questions for the Dabel Brothers" on the Comics board for ideas, but I hope this will encourage more fans to get their questions out there!

I'm not sure how many people that listen to the podcast visit the boards and vice versa, so reiterating a few points that have been made on the boards about how the comics will be book canon rather than TV canon, the planned publishing schedule, etc. couldn't hurt.

That thread's huge, but yeah, fair point.

"Mine for ideas," I said.  Not use the entire thing!  That podcast would be about five hours long. XD

Give me the mic. I could burn through that list in 5 mins or less. Wink It's amazing what a Train the Trainer course can do for getting material organized. The fact that I can talk fast doesn't hurt, either.
Now, having some people understand the final result may be another matter. Depends if they were raised on FedEx commercials and theymakeussaythislegalstuffattheendofadssowe'regoingtosayitathalfthespeedoflight radio ads.

(Seriously considering getting the new Logitech usb pro-mic if you want to use me again, Fred. That would kill any sound issues from my end.)

Sure, Mickey -- that fits your "segment" well.  Pris is our News From The Field, yours is the Forum View, as far as previously established niches go.  Smiley

The question I have is regarding the book-to-comic book uh comics.  How many book chapters will there be per issue?  For instance the first book is about 30 chapters long or so, so can we expect it to be broken up into 6-5chapter issues?  Also the "new" stories, will they be done in between the "books" or in between issues?

**ADDED 1-29-2008**
Having just seen the cover art for Welcome to the Jungle, and the release date for the tradeback(?) version in I think October, what is the physical size of the comic's and tradeback versions?  I know next to nothing about comics, except ya know they have drawings in them.  I ask this due to a woefully small and ever shrinking bookcase space.  What are the dimensions HxW in inches for these things?  Also will the tradeback(is that what its called, the one with all 4 issues in one volume) be paperback or hardback?

Not being a comic book person, though having seen the cover and sample art I am thinking of getting it when it is out on Tradeback.

Are any of these question coherent?  I stink at typing/writing/trying to get an idea across, so please forgive me.

This just in!  You can now PHONE IN your question for the Dabel brothers!  The next episode of The Butcher Block will feature a Q&A with a representative from the Dabel Brothers, publishers of the upcoming Dresden Files comic, and we'd like to hear from YOU!

Call 301-6377-HAT (301-637-7428).  After Fred's message plays and you get the beep, tell us your name (and/or your forum name) and where you're calling from, then give us your questions for the Dabel crew!  Alternately, you can record your question yourself (we recommend Audacity) and email the file to thebutcherblock AT gmail DOT com.

If you'd rather your question be read by Fred, you can still post questions in this thread or email them to thebutcherblock AT gmail DOT com.

Deadline for submissions is Monday, February 25th.

We invite everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to get involved and be heard on the podcast!

I have two questions.  Smiley

1. Did they, or are they, taking any inspiration from the television series?  If so, can you name a brief example?

2. Are there any scenes from the books that are definitely not going to make it into the comics? If so, can you name an example?

(Hopefully these questions haven't already been asked and answered. I don't keep good tabs on the forums these days. Heh.)
