Big news on the short story front! Jim has announced that he will be participating in Kevin J. Anderson's "Blood Lite" anthology, featuring humorous horror stories. Jim reveals: It's called 'Harry's Day Off.' You know, I thought it would be nice to just have a Dresden Files story where nothing happens. Harry has a quiet day at home reading a book. Hey, it could happen. Watch this website for further details, and discuss your thoughts on this story here! Edit: We now have a release date! Coming to a bookstore near you on October 21st.

Well believe me, Mike, I calculated the odds of this succeeding versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid... and I went ahead anyway.
You've seen it! You can't unsee it!

Harry with a nice quiet day reading a book. Hah. $10 says the book is possessed and sucks him into a Book Hell dimension or something. Or he gets constantly nagged by Bob.

Nah, he won't know how to handle a peaceful day at home. He's going to go stir crazy from too much quiet after 15 minutes, go out and pick a fight with the first ugly monster he can find.

The first thing that came to my mind for a story called "Harry's Day Off" is a change in point of view. A story with Thomas, Molly, Murphy, or Michael as the main character, seeing little to nothing of Harry? Thinking about it I don't find it very likely, but it was the first thing that popped in my head.

Murphy and Michael teaming up to take on a lower lever baddy would be great. Maybe they both do to Harry's apartment for help, can't find him, realize they're dealing with the same bad guy, and agree to work together to defeat him.
