From the Subterranean Press blog:

"Jim Butcher, author of the ultra-popular Dresden Files, has turned in a novelette set in that series for us. Check out as Harry Dresden’s big brother offers some “Backup” to get everyone’s favorite PI wizard out of a nasty spot of trouble."

Or is this already announced somewhere?  I haven't spotted it yet...

I think this was mentioned before, but I don't think we'd heard anything about the storyline or the title. Definately sounds like a Thomas story: I like very much already!

Hee!  We mentioned the original novelette announcement in the last episode of The Butcher Block a ways back, but I don't think it ever made it to the News page.  This brief hint about the plot is certainly a new development, however!  Hopefully they'll announce a release date before too long.

This is a great development.  Hopefully this is just a sign of things to come and more characters will get their own books, series, short stories, etc.

I maybe wrong, but from that little blurb Thomas isn't getting his own little story, series, or whatever.  It sounds like it will be like all the other Dresden stories, ie told from Dresden's point of view.

This does sound awesome though.

However, I want to know a release date, and whether or not I can buy this off of Amazon.  Hopefully so.

It would be intriguing if it was from Thomas's POV. Letting Jim explore different narrative voices aside from Harry's.

The problem with that is that anything he writes from another POV is that much less we get of Harry.  I like Harry.  I'm willing to compromise, though.  He can wrote from other points of view in twenty years or so, after I've rung down the curtain and joined the bleeding choir invisible.
