3am?  That makes no sense whats so ever.  Is it possible that Sci Fi will air the Pilot early, like in Feb?  Why spend money to air the Pilot at 3am?

Because the only time there isn't anything on Scifi is at five AM until eight AM.  They're using it as filler.  At least they're airing it but they're not showing the fans any real respect.

But why bother to spend money to buy the program?  Why not run something they already own the rights to?  If they can air one of their own made movies on a Saturday night at 8pm, why not air the Dresden movie (2 hours) on a Saturday night.

Unless someone at Sci Fi has something personal against the Dresden Files, it just doesn't sound like a sound business decision.

Scifi still has the rights to Storm Front.  Remember, it's a Scifi channel original series.  It probably cost them little more than pocket change to air the two hour version of the pilot.

It may be at an awkward time 3-5am, however it might be an incredible bit of luck for us Dresden File fans....
That's it's being aired at all is excellent news & hopefully means that the e-mails we've been sending feedback@scifi.com & the letters are working! We may be planning a View-In for that episode - even at such an ungodly hour. Cheesy

...Also note this bit of news that popped up this morning on mediabistro.com site for an article on the NYTimes.  http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/23/business/media/23pilots.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

No expensive pilots---might mean a softening towards a past show that HAS continued to have support long after the series was over and has been proven via Jim's continued success on the NYT book list...(as well as a lot of fans that are dis-enfranchised from sci-fi channel as a result. There are so many of us that still refer to it as the "channel that shall not be named".  :-)  Maybe the show that increased interest in the books will come back around to increase possibility of the show returning?....

Yes, that is all speculation--but hey what else can a fan do but read the tossed bones and tarot cards?

Meg
Absolutely!! It's one of the points we've put in the sample letter & have been mailing to Howe - the Dresden Files has a growing, international audience and is ready to continue - no pilot trial period necessary. Smiley

And you're right Meg - folks are still posting comments on the petition about finding the books after they watched the DVD's. These folks never knew the series was on while it was on TV and have fallen in love with TDF from watching just the DVD's. That's why the audience is still growing. Smiley

Maybe they want to see how many people are willing to stay up all night to watch it.

Maybe they want to see how many people are willing to stay up all night to watch it.

Or they want to 'prove' (conspiracy like the cancellation) that no one likes it by noting how few people watch it when it airs, which is why it's at a deliberately horrible time slot.

Maybe the schedule will mysteriously change - it certainly has before. Either way, we'll be holding a View-In during the airing, to show support. Stay up and watch with us! Smiley

I like this idea, maybe the marketing people want to know how 'dedicated' the core audience is, and by putting it into the 3:00 a.m. (do I stay up late or get up early?) time slot, they figure they will find out.
