Umm...have you looked into just how much charitable giving Bill Gates does?
Both Bill and Melinda are keen Philanthropist’s starting the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which has committed more than $3.2 billion to global health, $2 billion to improve learning opportunities to low income families, $477 million to community projects and more than $488 million to special projects and annual giving campaigns.
I know, sad isn't it? They could really be helping to improve so many lives and yet that barely give out pocket change...

I just found this in smaller PB form from the usual LARGE softback PB form. So I bought it and finally finished this story. Really REALLY enjoyed it especially how it showed Michael in a different light than we're used to seeing him. It made me more anxious to get a copy of the soon to be coming anthology of shorts. I can't wait! The scene with Uriel was interesting aswell. It's interesting how he posed the question of Harry as a force for good and the right hand side. I liked that reference about freewill and how Harry did real good in his everyday life. And of course poor Harry gets beat up alot and Mouse sort of saves his butt a bit. I was surprised to see Waldo was in there and Murphy didn't show but was mentioned. Charity seemed like her attitude towards Harry had changed which was nice to see. One less woman trying to beat him up or yell at him. I can understand her attitude before but was glad to see she was more accepting of him as a part of their family and his want to help.

Would you please provide more info about this upcoming anthology? Is it all shorts for Dresden files? I just finished Turn Coat and have only the short in Mean Streets (that I know of). Nothing against the other authors, but if there is a book of Jim's Dresden shorts, I'll gladly wait and purchase that. Thanks.

I THINK there was mention in a Butcher Block (?) episode that Jim was working on an anthology of all of the Dresden shorts.. including a new one with Marcone as the the main focus. I have late Spring stuck in my head, but I am fairly certain that we will see an anthology this year. There is a timeline in the Books thread. It places all the shorts within the series of the books as far as they have been written. Also, on the main Jim site there is a link to a couple of them.

When you wish upon a falling star, your dreams can come true. Unless it's really a meteorite hurtling to the Earth which will destroy all life. Then you're pretty much hosed no matter what you wish for. Unless it's death by meteor.

From http://www.jim-butcher.com/dresden/short/Jim plans to release all his Dresden Files short stories in a single anthology, due out in late 2010. It will also include exclusive new material--either three short stories or one novelette. Jim has written three short stories that will come out before the anthology. They are: "Curses" -- from The Naked City (formerly Spirit of the City), edited by Ellen Datlow Takes place between Turn Coat and Changes. Released Spring 2010. "Even Hand" -- from Dark and Stormy Knights, edited by Pat Elrod Takes place between Turn Coat and Changes, told from Gentleman John Marcone's point of view. Released Spring 2010. "Love Hurts" -- from Star-Crossed Lovers, edited by Gardner Dozois Takes place between Turn Coat and Changes. Release date TBA. The three short stories/one novelette exclusive to the anthology will be in ADDITION to these three unpublished stories. If Jim chooses to go the "three short stories" route, he is considering writing a story about Murphy and Kincaid's activities during Dead Beat, entitled "Hawaii," but it isn't definite.

Oh, thank you! I hadn't seen those before. Adding them to the store now, and tweaking your post to include the Store-friendly URL. And man, the store's short story section could be better organized. I wonder if there's any way to make the stories appear chronologically... *delves*

Okay! Updated the store so that the short stories are listed in chronological order, with one-sentence blurbs and notes on which books they come between. I have OCD.
