A while back I read a statement by Robert Wolfe in which he said he wanted Lisa Ryder to do a reading for Winifred.  Apparently they planned to have her as a recurring character with on going flash backs of Bob and Winifred (yes, I know, for us Bob fans that idea is swoon inducing).  All the more reason to be frustrated there is no season two...

Anyway, two things about Robert Wolfe saying this come to mind.  The first is I grew up watching Forever Knight.  I was very into vampires in the early nineties.  I was fourteen when I devoured the first four Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.  And I was ten-years-old when Forever Knight began.  Forever Knight was about a vampire who wished to be human again while his maker wished for him to embrace his vampire nature.  The hero tried to repay society for his sins by becoming a detective.  Inspired by Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles Forever Knight later became the basis for it's 're-imagining' that is Moonlight.  (Pretty much all they did was turn Nick into Mick).

Forever knight has a lot in common with The Dresden Files.
Forever Knight was originally canceled in it's first season but by popular demand it was brought back seventeen months after the first season ended and it wound up on another channel.  I know that's a little much for us Dresden files fans to hope for but it's not impossible.
            Both were filmed in Toronto.
Both had professional singers involved who have both been on Soap operas.  Forever Knight's original pilot movie (Nick Knight) had Rick Springfield as Nick and of course Dresden Files has Terrence Mann.
Someone once told me the block where they filmed the exterior of Nick's apartment is the same block they filmed the exterior of Harry's office on Dresden Files.
And if they had (or somehow do) continue Dresden files if they had gotten Lisa Ryder involved that would have been another connection to Forever Knight.

It shows how old I've gotten.   Here I am at age twenty six.  Lisa Ryder was twenty three or twenty four years old when she played Tracy on Forever Knight and because I was only ten when that show began I still feel like Tracy (the character) is older than me.   I used to think her character was a bit of a whiny bimbo but now that I'm older and have the episodes on DVD (longer than what aired here in America) I have a much better understanding of her character.

I am very interested to see what would have happened with her as Winifred.  I know she's a good actress but she'll always be Tracy to me (I'm a Forever Knight fan).

The second thought that came to mind is, Robert Wolfe wanted her to do a reading as Winifred. Does that mean there were season 2 scripts already?  Will we fans ever get to see these things or will they be locked away to never see the light of day?  Will Robert Wolfe ever tell us the Winifred / Bob bedtime story he promised us if the show wasn't renewed?  Or are we holding out for a miracle?  Please, no one chew me out for the slight hint of hope still lingering.  I already know it's not likely.   I just would like to have known those stories that never came to be.

I expect they had a number of ideas for season 2, but I can't imagine they would write full scripts until a new season had been greenlit.

Many shows have a bible, a book of facts about the characters and or places that aren't actually revealed right away on the show but are the basis for certain plot lines or character behaviours.  And this bible is consulted when writing episodes.   A show's bible will reveal hidden back stories and random facts.  I would love to have seen this show's bible, if it had one.  And or the content of what Lisa Ryder would have read at her reading for Winifred.

I miss this show.  Doctor Who just ended in the UK (in about three weeks in the USA) and Scifi finished it's run of Sarah Jane adventures.  So we have more filler Stargate and Ghosthunter reruns to look forward to for months and months and months...

The Scifi channel lost it's fantasy aspect and is now losing Scifi itself. It's becoming some mockery of an unreality Reailty TV channel.   Especially with the return of Scare Tactics.

God, I miss The Dresden files...

Really?  Stargate: Atlantis starts up this week.  I'm not sure how the Sci-fi channel handles premiers in the U.S. and the U.K.  I guess they must be delayed.

Now that Battlestar Galactica is over the only original shows they have left are...

Stargate Atlantis
Scare Tactics
Eureka.

Doctor who only has three weeks left on the Scifi Channel.

Sarah Jane adventures has finished it's first season (Series) on the Scifi Channel.

Stargate is now only direct to DVD movies.

Battlestar Galactica is ending.

Flash Gordan has gone down in flames as has Painkiller Jane.

       God, I miss Dresden Files.
