I don't know what it is, but I have a natural aversion to buying a series of books in paperback.

I bought PG in paperback simply 'cause i couldn't find it in hardcover, and wanted to read it and WN. I only own SF, PG, and WN. WN is the only hardcover. I've been abusing my dad's copies lately. I can't wait for Nov to come so I can replace my SF with the hardcover; and FM comes out in March I believe. I can't wait.

On a side note, has anyone seen the adult covers for the UK versions of harry potter? There's a hardcover boxset worth buying, once all the books are out.

This is interesting....I have an aversion to buying hardcovers.  I'll read the hardcover from the library when it comes out, but if I'm buying it, I wait until it comes out in paperback.  Takes up less space and costs less.

At the speed I read, I can't afford hardcovers.

For me, the nice look and hefty feeling are worth the extra cost. I don't buy a lot of books, so my bookshelf has plenty of space on it. I'll check out paperbacks in the library a lot, but unless I find a series that I really get into, I don't buy. Single books, however, I buy in paperback. Odd?

No odder than me.  I only have two fiction series that I'll buy the books for - Dresden and a historical mystery series.  Love both so much that I'll even pay full price.  Most of my other books are gifts, travel books (which I buy a ton of - lightest thing to carry home), or nonfiction.
