I just got my hardcover of Dead Beat in the mail today!  I"ve never liked the small print  & feel of the small paperbacks, so having this in hardcover with larger print is absolutely great!  I"m still waiting for Wizard for Hire and Wizard by Trade (soon to arrive in the mail).  I'm tempted to buy Proven Guilty in HB, but maybe I should wait till next year when it will be cheaper...What do you guys think? Should I buy it now? I think I"m getting obsessive!  I"ve refrained from buying the paperbacks for now In the meantime I go to Barnes and Nobles and read them.  I finished Storm Front, now should be finished with Fool Moon!

What I often do is type on Word and then copy-n-paste onto the message box. That tends to help the typo thing, since Word has a spellcheck function...

Then I go back to insert underline or bold or smileys  Smiley as desired.

NOTE: I didn't do that for this post, so it's probably full of typos.  Wink

I'd probably buy Wizard for Hire if it was available semi-openly.  The problem with Wizard by Trade is that it doesn't have Blood Rites.  If they released two omnibus editions (3 and 3) I would be a happy boy.

Hi Everyone!  I received Wizard for Hire and Wizard by Trade in the mail today.  However I noticed that the pages in the book were wavy and not flat like other books.  Has anyone else noticed this and is the normal?

Personally, I refuse to buy hardcovers unless they're cheaper than the paperbacks (i.e. I find them used for dirt cheap). Hardcovers are more durable, yes, but they're also way bigger and bulkier and heavier. I have, any number of times, had a reason to grab 7-8 books and stick them in my backpack. Can't stick 7-8 hardcovers in a backpack, can you? Wink

My backpack holds 5400 cubic inches....

Sorry, couldn't resist. Wink

(edit: I love hard cover books for the library. I would definitely pay for individual hard cover editions for 1-6)

Sorry to do a Sue on this thread, but I didn't see this news anywhere else, and thought this was the best place for it:

Hardcover Storm Front!

And now back to your regularly scheduled forum.

PS: On the hardcover vs paperback debate . . . I own SF and FM in paperback, and just ordered WBT, WAL, and WUF from SFBC.

Wow. That was a lot of acronyms. OK, Simon, stop posting after midnight . . .

I've never been fond of hardcover books myself.

I like the "close up" nature of a paperback and I like to lend them out.  If I lose a paperback to accident, "long term borrowing," or something else I won't feel bad unless that paperback has gone out of print and is difficult to replace.

Then again, I have paperbacks that are close to 20 years old and still look in remarkable condition except for a bit of paper yellowing.

I also have a problem getting rid of [non-gaming] books and paperbacks take up much less space.

Ooh, thanks for the tip, Chris!  Looks like it's slated for a November 6, 2007 release.  People can preorder the hardcover on Amazon here.
