Subterranean Press has just released the cover piece for their illustrated edition of Storm Front, featuring art by Vincent Chong.

SubPress reports: The first of our Dresden Files limited editions took a huge step closer to publication this week, as Vincent Chong turned in the cover for Jim Butcher's Storm Front. Vinny is hard at work on the interior illos. As soon as he completes those, we'll be sending the book to the printer. As we've mentioned before, we don't expect to have copies of Storm Front for wholesalers or large online retailers, so your only option on this one is ordering direct from SubPress.

Limited: 500 signed numbered hardcovers: $60

That does look pretty sweet, doesn't it...

How long have they been working on it?

SubPress first announced the project back in March, but the artist was only announced in June.  In addition to the full-color cover, Vincent Chong is doing a number of black and white interior illustrations.  Check out his website here.

My thoughts exactly.  I saw the cover and immediately started giggling.  It's another reason to love the comics!

There's nothing wrong with how it looks.  It's the fact that Harry doesn't wear a hat in the books, yet is nevertheless always pictured wearing one in the book cover illustrations.  We deliberately kept Harry hatless in the comic, and I hoped the same might hold true with Subterranean Press' adaptations, as the whole hat notion started with Roc/Penguin.  Nope!

I like the hats, it gives Harry a feeling of  mysticism.  I mean, just look at the backgrounds of the covers with Harry and his hat on them.  The hat fits right in.  He would look out of place with out the hats.  The hats are NECESSARY!  BTW, love the cover art.  Is awesome.
