DABEL BROTHERS SIGN DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH DEL REY

Dabel Brothers Publishing and Del Rey, an imprint of Ballantine Books, have announced a new agreement for distribution of Dabel Brothers graphic novels into the trade book market.

In spring 2008 the popular literary comic book publisher will launch comic book adaptations of three major properties: New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz's Frankenstein: Prodigal Son; Jim Butcher's bestselling The Dresden Files; and George R.R. Martin's Wild Cards. The graphic novel versions, to be distributed by Del Rey, will go on sale in summer/fall 2008.

The long-term arrangement will result in broader distribution for their graphic novels than they have had in the past, explains Ernst Dabel, President of Dabel Brothers Publishing. "While we will retain our autonomy and continue to operate as an individual company, we expect the Del Rey sales team to greatly expand our reach into such markets as libraries and independent bookstores."

Let's get Jim to Comic-Con in San Diego in 2008 -- should be just the right time to promote the graphic novel.  And, besides, I really want to meet him (not to mention the cool Harry Dresden costume I'm making for my fiancee that didn't get done in time for this year's convention, and the Ancient Mai costume I want to make . . . ).

Love Murphy's eyes and expression.  She looks like a woman you do NOT want to back into a corner!

See, I didn't picture Murphy as scowl-y as is shown.  More the cute little sister/peppy cheerleader type... that knocks you on your ass when you underestimate her. 

But overall, I really like the look!  Especially the lower-left Dresden (with Murphy & in color) and the second Marcone (no suit).  And the Toad Demon.  And Morgan (although I always pictured him with his hair kind of wild and blowing, even though he's described as wearing it in a pony tail).  Carmichael is good, too.  Ok, you get the picture!
